4 Star - Great Spot
Always enjoy this campground - we have been there several times. The campsites in the K section are our favorite. They are large & treed so on a hot day it is very comfortable. The showers & washrooms are clean and the new laundry is great. Some of our group enjoy canoeing on the river while the rest of us are happy to relax in the campground and perhaps take in a yard sale at one of the seasonal sites. The camp staff leave you alone to have a good time unless you step over the bounds of being courteous - so you need not worry about lost nights sleep and noisy neighbours. It is close to Kingston and we usually enjoy the Farmers Market in the Town Square on Sunday mornings along with a great breakfast at Morrisons. We were there on the May Long Weekend and hope to go back again this season and take a tour of Fort Henry.

1 Star - Very expensive for very little
Two thumbs down for this campground. The place looks very good from their website but it is a let down when seen in person. The "beach" is extremely tiny and the sand isn't that nice, the lake is VERY green and murky and shallow for a long ways out. The pool was closed more than it was open and according to the sign from improper use of sunscreen and improper bathing. According to the lifeguards when confronted with the closures it really has to do with the old filtration system. Adult swims at a family campground from 2 -3 really? Aquafit on Tues and Thurs. from 11-12...really? Also a max capacity of 60 people...for a huge campground means standing waiting to even be able to go for a swim..no one really wanted to use the "beach" and swim in the smelly swampy lake! Bathrooms near our site were old and dingy and hot. The showers had something left to be desired. 1 in the womans with no shower head, 3 women's showers on side of the building with only a thin shower curtain separating you from the person showering beside you. Oh and these can be pulled back...trust me! Not much in the camp store and what was in there was not well thought out. What would you need more..a marshmallow tree or some floaties that got forgotten?! The site that we had for our camper trailer was tiny! We were packed in like sardines! In order to sit "around" the fire pit we all had to sit on one side or we would have been pretty much sitting on the road. The mini put might have been fun in it's day...now the weeds grow out of the holes, the astro turf is crinkled and broken and you have to walk through the tall grass to even get to it. The wood around the sides is breaking down and you get given ancient clubs and a ball and nothing to score with. The basket ball court..well cars park on one side of it..enough said. The pedal carts were ok..if there was one to be had! The only good thing...it was quiet and night...and it was close to the Kingston outlets and Gananoque Boat Tours. I don't recommend this campground, there are other private and provincial campgrounds near by much much nicer than this one!
