| 3 Star - Gravel sites are a negative. |

Review for July 8-11, 2011. Clean park comfort stations are spotless, lots of firewood available and the staff is friendly and helpful. The trails are nice but not challenging. Beaches seem clean and have lots of parking. Most campsites have adequate privacy and are well maintained. This is a very, very busy park but for the amount of people it was relatively peaceful no parties, loud music or drunks. Not sure if I lucked into a quiet weekend or it’s due to patrols and enforcement. The down side to Iverhuron is the gravel campsites, this made for great drainage when it rained but it was hell driving the tent pegs in. Snapped half a dozen plastic pegs and bent several metal ones. The dog beach is terrible. It’s very scenic but not an appropriate place to take a dog swimming. Too rocky and slippery wouldn’t call it a path from the parking lot to the “beach”. Iverhuron could be a 5 star park, for a recreational campground it is very well maintained but the gravel sites knock it down to 3 stars BRING EXTRA TENT PEGS you’ll need them!! |
